Educational Programs

ATZUM recognizes the importance of educational outreach, in bringing the stories of these individuals, who were a precious few sources of light during the darkest period of Jewish and western history, to wider knowledge. When teaching about the courage and strength of Righteous Among the Nations, ATZUM focuses on their lives during the Shoah, and the lives they later established in Israel, why they came to Israel, and how they rebuilt their lives in the Jewish State.

ATZUM contacts youth groups and schools, both in Israel and abroad, and encourages and facilitates bringing Righteous Among the Nations to speak with their students. Such educational programs include learning about the Righteous Among the Nations life-saving heroics; volunteer home visits; and writing letters and preparing holiday cards sent to each one. These projects are beneficial to all: there is great educational significance for the students, and the students’ visits, letters and cards help brighten up the days of these elderly individuals, often enduring difficult times without extensive, or perhaps any, framework of family support.
